Yes,The real management is Here!!

NITIE, let me start with the beauty of the college! Nestled amongst the lush green hills that extend into North Mumbai, NITIE has been endowed with nature's bounty. Surrounded by the captivating beauty of the Powai and Vihar lakes, and a pond within the campus, made it GODS OWN CAMPUS. Its been barely a couple of days and I fell in love with it.
Adding to it, I feel privileged to be a part of IM-20th batch NITIE, the future leaders in the economy of India. Coming to the point, the purpose of writing this blog is to let the world, who did not get a chance to come for an MBA  gain knowledge through this. I am sorry if u r searching here for some books or material regarding management. We the students of NITIE are playing games here, Managerial games.
The first class by Dr Prasad(better known as Dr Mandi),is about earn while you learn. We were asked to come out of our chairs and sit down in the class and people are shocked, as we don’t expect it in a B school.we were then introduced about MANDI an event in which we the students of NITIE ,go and sell the toys in the streets of Mumbai. The central purpose of MANDI is threefold. Firstly to make a difference in the lives of thousands of children who lose out on basic education. Secondly students practice the classroom concepts of Marketing, Principles of Management, Business Economics, and Accounting in the real field.
Thirdly this unique event intends to impart an additional dimension to the learning of the students who buy these toys. The entire amount collected is donated to the NGO Navnirmiti which provides the event with toys (for sale) in the first place.

He has brought few toys to the class and there was engineering behind every toy. I have never seen such kind of toys before and it was called Newtons cradle. We were then asked to play and observe how it works, the engineering behind it,how we rate the toy.He then showed us a ball,a butterfly and others which are not just toys, there is a learning behind everything.

In the next class we were given a game to play, which illustrates the old craft management and the new management. The game was we were given blocks with which we need to form a tower.A person was  called and was asked to do it,and we were asked the maximum number of blocks that he can do.We gave numbers such as 15,20,25 whereas he has done with 22.Now the game begins, three of us are called and the rules are one would be blind folded, the other helping him without touching him nor the blocks, and the third just observes and comes into picture when required. Now again we were asked to to tell,we decreased the number and no one said more than 22,But surprisingly he came up with 27 blocks.

The learning behind the game is
An industry where we have three people,The CEO(Upper management),Manager (middle management)and the workers. The way an organized management leads to more productivity is well explained through the game.It can be illustrated with one more example,A tailor stitching a shirt and a textile industry manufacturing shirts where jobs are specific and divided. An organized management leads to increase in the skill, productivity, saves time and a better role clarity.
Thus wil come up with the next class with few more games and organizational behaviour. And thank you Sir(Dr Prasad),for making us start this blogs.
Regards
Ravi Kumar

  3. Its not just a game... itz a process whr one can learn how to lead a team(TEAM MANAGEMENT) make de things done at right time(TIME MANAGEMENT) follow the rules (WORK MANAGEMENT). Diz makes one to think and play in a innovative manner. This type of activities will really help u guys wen u get exposed to a real market. I can c u ppl playing for learning new things instead of wining which will make u guys real winners in the corporate world. Every management game like this will make u ppl to think OUT OF BOX and segregates frm other n reach the success. I really appreciate the ppl for this innovative method of teaching.Rendering knowledge through management games could be an alternative to traditional learning and teaching methodologies, which in turn may be more acceptable to candidates and the instructors alike.
